Vigil Honor

The Vigil Honor is the highest honor that a Lodge can bestow upon a member. It dates back to 1915 when our founder, Dr. E. Urner Goodman, became the first Vigil Honor Member. It is a high mark of distinction and recognition reserved for those Arrowmen who, by reason of exceptional service, personal effort, and unselfish interest, have made distinguished contributions beyond the immediate responsibilities of their position or office to one or more of the following: their lodge, the Order of the Arrow, Scouting or their Scout Camp. One cannot campaign for, or hope to achieve, the Honor through their conscious endeavors. Under no circumstances should tenure in Scouting or the Order of the Arrow be considered as reason enough for a Vigil Honor recommendation.Vigilx

The committee needs your help to effectively select this year’s class. As our lodge is large, there will be potential Vigil candidates from each chapter that may be unfamiliar to the committee members from the other chapters Please take thoughtful time in filling out this form completely; any requested information left blank could weigh heavily on the committee’s decision. In order to ensure that every eligible Arrowman is thoroughly considered by the members of this committee, please submit this form to the Vigil Honor Selection Committee by May 1, 2015.
