Centurion Award – Don Stevens

Don Stevens

Don Stevens

Our next Centurion recipient is Don Stevens for his service to Susquehannock Lodge.

Don Stevens grew up in the Milton Hershey School where he was raised and educated. Forming his life after Milton Hershey, developed his true love giving young men a good solid role model as they become productive citizens. In addition to being the longest Lodge Advisor, Don also simultaneously served as a Scoutmaster, District Committee member, supported Keystone Council, Lodge and Hidden Valley Scout Reservation. He had received the District Award of Merit, Silver Beaver and Founder’s Award.

Don truly believed in a youth run lodge and encouraged youth leadership. He is at least partially responsible for our recently appointed Lodge Advisor Chip Bayer; former National Chief Don Cunningham, still serves on the National Board; and Joe Marsicano, who served as Lodge Chief, Section Chief, NER Chief, and Section Advisor.

A Scouter once relayed the story of he had been badly treated as a young Scout and quit. Don met the Scouter when he was in his teens, and he rejoined scouting, later joined Order of the Arrow, and now gives back to his Troop, Lodge, and his Community.

Don served as Lodge Adviser from 1976 to 1980, and again from 1984 to 1994. Don remained a member until 1996 when he retired and moved to New Mexico.
