2023 Lodge Banquet
All indications are that our Lodge will have an absolutely stellar 2023 and we certainly started the new year off in style getting our annual Lodge Banquet “groove on” at the beautiful Susquehanna Club in New Cumberland, Pa. After a two-year hiatus and a hearty “goodbye” to COVID restrictions, Sasquehannough Lodge 11 held our (mostly) annual banquet on Saturday, January 14, 2023.
As in the past, attendees were treated to beautiful harp and violin music by Blyth Spirits and to wonderful food prepared and served by the Susquehanna Club Staff (love their signature Apple Pie!) Lodge Chief Cody Rager introduced and installed his Lodge Officers and shared his wisdom and desires for the future of our lodge moving forward into 2023. Vice Chief of Program Angela Trantham served as Master of Ceremonies leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance, introducing presenters of the Founders Awards, and presenters of other awards and recognitions.
Founders Awards were presented to Greg Culp (2021 Recipient), Teri Silar, and Max Iacono, all very deserving of this award. First-time attendees of the banquet were recognized as were all members holding the Vigil honor. As is traditional and always brings a few laughs, all Vigil members present offered their Indian names and English translations. The silent auction was again a success, raising over $750 that will go into the Lodge’s scholarship fund. The evening wrapped up with the drawing and selection of door prizes, Cody Rager asking everyone to circle up and leading us in our Closing Song, and MC Angela Trantham thanking everyone and wishing them safe travels home.
Although the success of our Lodge and the banquet is due to the enthusiasm, dedication, and hard work of each and every member, special “shout outs” are due to Angela Trantham for serving as banquet Master of Ceremonies, Greg Culp for offering lodge Trading Post items for sale, Dave Hultberg for registering attendees, everyone who provided pictures for the evening’s slide show, presenters of the Founders Awards, Sam Coover and Charlie Hulse for the success of the Silent Auction, and members of Crew 69 for serving as greeters.
The date for the 2024 Lodge Banquet will be announced later this year, so please stay tuned for that date. Members have almost a full year to plan on attending this event, taking and providing pictures for the slide show, and selecting items to donate for the silent auction.
Yours In Cheerful Service,
Lodge Program Committee
