2018 Banquet

On January 13th, 2018, Brothers of Sasquesahanough Lodge 11 and their guests enjoyed a relaxing and memorable evening at the Susquehanna Club in New Cumberland for their annual Lodge Banquet.  Live music and a silent auction greeted members and their guests upon arrival while attendees had a chance to place bids, catch up with existing friends and make new ones, and enjoy a slide show of past Lodge and Section events.  As usual, the staff of the Susquehanna Club provided wonderful service and food.  We were honored to have Brother Nathan Davis bless the meal while all in attendance recited the Order of the Arrow Grace. Members in need of Lodge apparel were able to purchase such items from the Lodge Trading Post which was set up and ran by Brothers Greg and Nathaniel Culp.

Sasquesahanough Lodge’s own Adam DiRocco addressed the audience on behalf of Section NE6B as Section Chief and we were honored to also have Section Secretary Bevan Watson from Kittatinny Lodge and Octorora Lodge Chief Steven Winn in attendance. Outgoing Vice Chief of Program Connor Laughlin served as the evening’s Master of Ceremonies with assistance from incoming Vice Chief of Program Tyler Villegas.  Connor opened the banquet by leading us in the Obligation and Pledge of Allegiance.  Outgoing Lodge Chief Joseph Mower inducted 2018 Lodge Chief Matthew Otto who in turn inducted his Lodge Officers.  Matt also spoke on the direction he wanted to see our lodge move under this term and leadership. Under the direction of Brother Jarrett Heisey, 2017 Founder’s Award recipients Joseph Mower and Mark Stout were recognized as were James E. West Award Recipients Adam Pollin and Justin Schneider. As is tradition, new members attending their first Banquet were recognized as were members achieving their Vigil honor in 2017. Special recognition was given to Brother Bud March who was determined to be the “most seasoned” member in attendance.  Past Lodge Chief and Section Vice Chief Brendan Olivera spoke about the Order of the Arrow’s program to help Scout Camps in Florida and Puerto Rico recover from the 2017 hurricanes which devastated many buildings and property in these areas.

Thanks to those Brothers who donated items for the Silent Auction and to Brothers Chuck Hawkes and Jim Otto who oversaw the auction, the auction raised over $400 which will benefit the Lodge’s Scholarship Fund.   Joey Mower was honored and thanked for his service as past Lodge Chief with the Lodge providing him a large stained glass Sasquesahanough Lodge Flap.  The evening was concluded when 2018 Lodge Chief had everyone “circle up” and led us in the Order of the Arrow song.

If you attended the banquet and want to again do so next year, reserve the date of January 12th, 2019.  If you unfortunately did not attend the 2018 annual banquet, we encourage you to “save the date” of January 12th for the 2019 banquet!
