2019 Banquet Recap

On January 12th 2019, Arrowmen of Sasquehanough Lodge 11 along with their guests and families enjoyed a relaxing memorable evening at the Susquehanna Club in New Cumberland for our Annual Lodge Banquet. While listening to live music, members and guests had a chance to participate in a silent auction which ran most of the evening. It was an evening to enjoy fellowship with friends and a chance to make new ones. The Lodge Trading post was open, staffed by the Culp Family, offering a chance for members to purchase Lodge Apparel and Patches. Brother Garret Bauer led us in the Order of the Arrow Grace. Afterwards we all enjoyed a fabulous meal provided by the friendly Susquehanna Club Staff. Throughout the event we were able to view highlights of past Lodge events from the year in the slide show presentation.

Vice Chief of Program, Alexander LaVerdiere, acting as Master of Ceremonies opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and the Obligation. Brother LaVerdiere then proceeded to offer recognition of our special guest, our most seasoned member, Bud March, a 94 year old Vigil Member, and some of our newly inducted Ordeal Members. Alex then introduced our Lodge Chief, Matthew Otto, who presented the Lodge Chief Address. Next, Matt called up the 2019 elected lodge officers to be sworn in; Vice Chief of Administration, Ean Dudley; Vice Chief of Service, Matthew Redding; Vice Chief of Program, Alexander LaVerdiere; Treasurer, Nathaniel Culp; and Secretary, Chase Slenker. All were present and were sworn into office. Matt also called up the Chapter Chiefs present to be sworn in: Battlefield, Jonah Robinson; Heritage, Trail, Keith Stein; Keystone Capital, Benjamin LaVerdiere.

Awards were then presented to fellow Arrowmen for outstanding service. Benjamin LaVerdiere presented the James E. West award to Joseph Michael Burke, and Alexander LaVerdiere presented the James E. West award to Earnest James Davis Jr.. Ean Dudley presented the Founders Award to Matthew Otto and Chase Slenker presented the Founders Award to Rob Rowley.
Lodge Chief Matthew Otto spoke about upcoming events including the LEAD on January 26 in Maryland, the March 1 – 3 Fellowship, Section Conclave in June, and the next NOAC in 2020 in Michigan. At the end of the evening, we concluded our annual silent auction to benefit our Lodge Scholarship Fund. Many thanks to all who donated items and of course to those who participated. A special thanks goes out to Trevor LaVerdiere for overseeing the auction. This year we raised over $300.
Mark your calendars now for January 11th 2020 for next year’s Banquet. We look forward to seeing many new guests and of course returning members. Have a safe and fun 2019 full of cheerful service and don’t forget to start gathering items now for the silent auction at next year’s banquet!
